School Objectives

1. To provide access to education in a locality where there is a shortage of schools, yet many children who have the academic potential to excel.

2. To provide subsidized education for children who have lost one or both of their parents due to HIV/AIDS or other natural causes. The school has also made it a priority to give assistance to children whose parents were once teachers at the school but have passed away.

3. To expand and provide educational and outreach support to greater number of children in Sendafa and surrounding rural communities.

Our dream of opening a school in Ethiopia has come to fruition, but the educational needs we have found are much greater than we ever thought. We have to turn away many students due to lack of available space. There is a need for more classrooms, more books, more furniture and more resources. We would like assistance from friends, individuals and organizations that can support the school in its endeavor. Any necessary material support, finance or human power would be greatly appreciated. We even hope to have teachers from overseas come to Almikas on a volunteer basis for a given term to impart foreign experiences, thereby helping us strengthen our link and performance in this global village to which we all belong.
